Indoor Air Contains Far Greater Fungal Diversity Than Previously Thought, Major U.K. Study Finds
A two-year U.K. study of 118 households found that indoor air contains over 2,000 fungal genera and often exhibits greater fungal diversity than outdoor air. Researchers discovered hidden airborne fungal risks, including Aspergillus and Penicillium, and called for quantitative exposure standards to improve housing and public health protections.
